Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University,
is a Govt. university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The University was
established in 1997 by State Government of Tamilnadu. The Tamilnadu Dr.
Ambedkar Law University, The University is recognized by the Bar Council of
India ( BCI ) and University Grants Commission ( UGC ) ( Sec. 2f and 12b of the
UGC Act. The University is also a member of the Association of Indian
Universities ( AIU ), The University has been accredited by the National

The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University being a State
University established for the enhancement of legal education in the State of

technical and an imperative need would arise to have competent lawyers who

Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, has created quite a name for it self over the years. It is recognized Act of State Legislator Act no. 43 of 1997. The University
is duly recognized by UGC u/s 2(f) and is empowered to award degrees specified
u/s 22 of UGC Act 1956. with the objective to promote
inter-disciplinary Higher Education in the needy areas of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. To instill in students and

Colleges, University offers legal education through nine private law colleges
located in the different parts of Tamil Nadu. The School of Excellence in Law
was established by the University in the year 2002 at its campus has been
modeled on the lines of other National Law Schools in the country and offers
three year as well as five year integrated undergraduate courses in Law. The
University has a Postgraduate and Research Centre, which offers Master of Law
Degree Courses in eleven different specializations, doctoral programme as well

The university has a spacious centralized air-conditioned
library with a facility of 4 reading rooms. The library consists of
13,502 books with more than 200 national and international journals. Also, the
library has a subscription of 1,349 e-journals. Computer, along with internet
facilities is provided to both student and teaching staff.
Hostel:
The university provides hostel facilities with 144 rooms
available for boys & 244 rooms for girls separately. Hostel rooms provide
facilities like a cupboard, separate study rooms with the connectivity of
computers & internet, comfortable beds, bathrooms and attached toilet
facilities. Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, hostel is situated inside the Chennai, campus. TNDALU
hostel rooms are available on basis of sharing. One hostel room can accommodate
3 people. There are 144 rooms available for boys & the remaining 244
rooms are available for girls separately. The hostel can accommodate nearly 600
students. All students need to follow the college hostel rules as per the
management.
