Saveetha Institute of Medical and
Technical Sciences was created in 1986 mainly to provide medical relief,
to promote Education and encourage Research. The Trust started a Saveetha
Dental College and established an attached General Hospital in the year 1988.
Subsequently the Trust established a Nursing College, Physiotherapy College,
Occupational Therapy College and an Engineering College in order to comply with
our commitment and to serve the people, especially those living in Rural
Village in and around Chennai and adjoining districts of Tamilnadu.
Saveetha University offers various

To fulfil the norms of the University
Grants Commission, for the purpose of obtaining “Deemed to be University”
status, Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust has sponsored another Trust
(viz.) Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences (SIMATS) in the
year 2001. Subsequently, the said Trust (SIMATS) was declared as “Deemed to be
University” with the following three Institutions under Section -3 of the UGC
Act, 1956 as per Notification of the Govt. of India No.F.9-3/2002-U.3 dated
18-03-2005, now known as Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences
(SIMATS) (Deemed to be University).
This University has the same status
as that of other statutory Universities in India. The degrees, diplomas and
certificates awarded by the University have approval of the Government of
India, Govt. of Maharashtra and other states as well as the University Grants
commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI) Dental Council of India (DCI),
All India Physiotherapists Association (AIPA) Rehabilitation Council of India
(RCI) and Nursing Council of India (INC).

Saveetha
Dental College is one of the finest institutions in the world with a unique
dental curriculum that is a spectacular fusion of the best practices of the
east and west to train UG and PG students with unsurpassed skills in Clinical.
SIMATS has carved a niche for itself as a renowned institution for engineering
education and research and is ranked 124 among all the IITs, central, state and
private colleges and universities.
Students can choose from eight disciplines of study at the
Saveetha University. The main campus is located on the Chennai-Bangalore
National Highway, just eight kilometers from the Chennai Mofussil Bus Stand,
eight kilometers from Chennai International Airport, and twenty kilometers from
the Chennai Harbour. The second campus, Saveetha Nagar, is located 10 km from
the main campus. It is situated midway between Poonamallee and Sriperumbudur.
There are state-of-the-art facilities on both campuses.
Library:
The Institute has a spacious centralized air-conditioned library with a facility of 4
reading rooms. The library consists of 13,502 books with more than 200
national and international journals. Also, the library has a subscription of
1,349 e-journals. Computer, along with internet facilities is provided to both
student and teaching staff.
Hostel:
The Institute provides hostel facilities with 140 rooms available for boys & 260
rooms for girls separately. Hostel rooms provide facilities like a cupboard,
separate study rooms with the connectivity of computers & internet,
comfortable beds, bathrooms and attached toilet facilities. (PIMS) hostel is
situated inside the Ahenadnagar campus. PIMS hostel rooms are available on
basis of sharing. One hostel room can accommodate 3 people. There are 125
rooms available for boys & the remaining 214 rooms are available for girls
separately. The hostel can accommodate nearly 600 students. All students need
to follow the college hostel rules as per the management.
