University was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development
of the Government of India on 29th September 2003 under section 3 of the
University Grants Commission Act 1956.
The parent organization - Pravara
Medical Trust was established in 1972 in a small remote village Loni
situated in Ahmednagar District (Maharashtra State) by a visionary Padmashree
Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the
founder of Co-operative movement in India & Padmabhushan
Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil , Former
Union Minister and Distinguished Parliamentarian.
In 1976 the Trust started providing primary and secondary level medical care to
the remote rural and tribal population of this region, with establishment of a
modest hospital of 100 beds – Padmashree
Dr Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Pravara Rural Hospital - over a period of time the hospital grew in to 1275 beds
multi-disciplinary, superspeciality medical institute with state of art
facilities. Currently the hospital treats approximately 1 million cases
per year.

Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Ahemadnagar has

Patil created the first trust Pravara Medical Trust in 1972 together with the

Admission to this college is completely based on merit. Admission to the
UG courses is based on the performance of the candidates in the NEET
examination and admission to the PG courses is based on their performance in
NEET PG examination. Candidates can either fill the application form on online
and offline mode.
Library:
The Institute has a spacious centralized air-conditioned library with a facility of 4
reading rooms. The library consists of 13,502 books with more than 200
national and international journals. Also, the library has a subscription of
1,349 e-journals. Computer, along with internet facilities is provided to both
student and teaching staff.
Hostel:
The Institute provides hostel facilities with 140 rooms available for boys & 260
rooms for girls separately. Hostel rooms provide facilities like a cupboard,
separate study rooms with the connectivity of computers & internet,
comfortable beds, bathrooms and attached toilet facilities. (PIMS) hostel is
situated inside the Ahenadnagar campus. PIMS hostel rooms are available on
basis of sharing. One hostel room can accommodate 3 people. There are 125
rooms available for boys & the remaining 214 rooms are available for girls
separately. The hostel can accommodate nearly 600 students. All students need
to follow the college hostel rules as per the management.
