The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has evolved into a globally renowned university with a rich legacy. It originated in 1981 as a response to the increasing demand for management institutes in India. The Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) established the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) with an initial offering of a two-year full-time master’s program in management studies. The humble beginning included a small faculty, a collection of books, and an intake of 40 students located above Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai.

Over time, NMIMS underwent significant evolution and growth. Starting from its temporary location at Bhaidas auditorium, it moved to a large complex spanning over 5,50,000 square feet in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Today, NMIMS has transformed into a Deemed University with multiple disciplines across various campuses and 17 specialized schools. The university boasts more than 17,000 students, around 750 full-time faculty members, and faculty members with prestigious scholarships, making it one of India's premier academic communities.

NMIMS is recognized for its consistent academic quality, research focus, and strong industry linkages. The university emphasizes a holistic approach, aligning its programs with international standards. Initiatives related to curriculum development, international collaborations, placements, and students' development reflect NMIMS' commitment to providing a well-rounded learning experience.
