Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) was founded in 1982 under the guidance of former Education Minister Shri Kamalkishore Kadam and a group of academicians and visionaries, following the philosophy and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. The trust aimed to establish educational institutions in Chh. Sambhajinagar, a city known for its heritage sites of Ajanta & Ellora but lacking premier educational institutes. Over four decades, MGM has become a trailblazer in academic excellence and healthcare services, maintaining dynamism to meet modern demands.

MGM has contributed significantly to education, healthcare, classical dance & music, art, culture, heritage, and physical fitness. The institution emphasizes the holistic development of students, believing that literary education is valuable only when it builds a sound character. MGM's initiatives span from primary schools to postgraduate degrees, covering various disciplines such as engineering, architecture, medical, nursing, management, computer science, IT, biotechnology, science, commerce, fine arts, performing arts, fashion design, mass communication & journalism, film arts, photography, and more.

The lush green and serene campuses of MGM contribute to a peaceful learning atmosphere. The institution has earned a reputation as one of the premier educational and health services charitable trusts in India. MGM has established over six campuses with more than 70 colleges, institutions, and centers, along with incubation centers for students. MGM Khadi, a production and research center for khadi and Paithani saree, is among the notable initiatives.

Continuing its commitment to value-based services, MGM has launched the self-financed private "MGM University" in Chh. Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The university received approval from the Government of Maharashtra, and the MGM University Act 2019 was passed by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. This new venture reflects MGM's ongoing journey of imparting quality education and creating global technocrats.
