Gautam Buddha University, established under the Uttar Pradesh Act (9) of 2002, embarked on its academic journey in August 2008 at its expansive 511-acre campus in Greater Noida. Fully funded by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), both entities of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the UGC Act and holds membership in the Association of Indian Universities.

The academic programs offered by the university are not only recognized by the UGC but also adhere to the standards set by various other statutory bodies, councils, and relevant authorities on a case-by-case basis.

Key Recognitions and Approvals:

UGC Recognition: Gautam Buddha University is recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956, allowing it to award degrees specified by the UGC at its main campus with the approval of statutory councils, where necessary. It is also recognized under section 12 B of the UGC Act 1956 and accredited with a B+ Grade by NAAC.

Association of Indian Universities Membership: The university has been granted membership in the Association of Indian Universities.

Bar Council of India Approval: The School of Law, Justice, & Governance offers a five-year Integrated B.A. LLB program, duly approved by the Bar Council of India.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Approval: The Department of Education & Training, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, provides a Two-Year B.Ed. Program recognized by the NCTE.

Rehabilitation Council of India Approval: The Department of Psychology & Mental Health, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, offers an M. Phil. (Clinical Psychology) program, a two-year course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

Council of Architecture Approval: The Department of Architect & Planning, School of Engineering, offers B.Arch. and M.Arch. programs in Architect and Planning, recognized by the Council of Architecture, India.

ISO 9001: 2008 Certification: Gautam Buddha University has been accredited by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia & New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) for compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008.
