State Akkamahadevi Women University formerly known as Karnataka State Women's
University, established in 2003 in the city of Vijayapura (Formerly Bijapur),
is the only Women's University in Karnataka dedicated exclusively for women's
education. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. It has been
accredited 'B'grade by NAAC. The university is also a recipient of four Stars
in KSURF rankings. One hundred and fifty eight women's colleges of Karnataka,
are affiliated to this University and one P G center at Sindhanoor and also at
Udutadi, one Extension center at Mandya are also offering various programmes.
The
University offers various UG programmes leading to Bachelor's degree in Arts,
Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Education, Fashion
Technology, Home Science, Physical Education, Science and Social Work. It also
offers 30 P G Courses, P G Diploma and
Certificate Courses in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Management,
Social Sciences, Science and Technology and Education.

The
Central Library has one of the best collections of information sources in
technology, management, science and engineering-related disciplines. The
library has a large collection of text reference books and multimedia which is
continuously updated with the latest editions. It subscribes to international
periodicals, databases and online journals.
The
library maintains an intranet website through which students can access online
databases, journals and catalogues anywhere in the campus using Wi-Fi
connectivity. The library has the subscription of DELNET.
Hostel
Akkamahadevi
women's University provides
comfortable and well-appointed hostel accommodation to students both on-campus
and off- campus. Room accommodation is extended on a firstcome- first-serve
basis to students. Students can avail hostel rooms either on a single or a
shared basis.

good health. We've specially developed a sports-centric environment that
matches international standards and gives a truly global experience to all our
students. Moreover, the university celebrates an Annual Sports Day every year

university has a Placement Cell that looks after the students and helps &

the students well so that they can become skilled manpower with knowledge. This
cell is responsible for conducting on-campus placement drives and providing the
students with a platform where they can connect with industry experts through
workshops, seminars, special lectures, etc. This cell helps the students in
