The
Global network project, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of
USA in early 2000s forged a collaborative partnership between renowned
physicians and public health researchers from various academic institutions of
the United States of America and their eminent counterparts in India. It
allowed clinicians, basic scientists, field workers and collaborating sites to
conduct large-scale surveillance of neonatal infections and engage in
cutting-edge research to prevent infections, the biggest killer of neonates in
India. During this period, many astute minds felt the need for a public health
institution in the region for addressing the gap in the availability of
appropriately trained public health professionals. Thus Asian Institute of
Public Health (AIPH) came into being in 2008 expanding its contribution to a
larger audience in the rest of country and in the neighboring Asian countries
sharing population health problems of similar nature and magnitude.
AIPH
embarked on the flagship program, Master of Public Health (MPH) under an
Indo-US partnership in 2010, which became self-sufficient in 2015. The
graduated students have excellent placement record at the National Health
Mission, United Nations organizations, and international and national NGOs and
research institutes. Many of them are either pursuing or have completed PhD at
renowned universities in the U.S. and Europe.
Faculty
members at AIPH are now engaged in basic and translational research in
infectious diseases, environmental health, chronic diseases, water sanitation
and hygiene, microbiome and probiotics, and region specific problems such as
sickle cell disease. Results of these studies funded by DBT and ICMR – India,
NIH-USA, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through Child Health Research
Foundation, WHO-UNICEF, other state and central government agencies have been
published in the world’s best journals including Nature, Lancet, and PLoS
Meicine to name a few. This has allowed AIPH faculty to carry a high h-index
and attract new collaboration, and funding to achieve excellence. The expanded
educational mission at AIPH currently includes several new courses at Masters
Level and a Ph.D. programme. These exceptional educational and outstanding
research programmes resulted in getting AIPH a university status through state
legislature in 2018.

The
Central Library has one of the best collections of information sources in
technology, management, science and engineering-related disciplines. The
library has a large collection of text reference books and multimedia which is
continuously updated with the latest editions. It subscribes to international
periodicals, databases and online journals.
The
library maintains an intranet website through which students can access online
databases, journals and catalogues anywhere in the campus using Wi-Fi
connectivity. The library has the subscription of DELNET.
Hostel
AIPH
University provides comfortable and well-appointed hostel accommodation to
students both on-campus and off- campus. Room accommodation is extended on a
firstcome- first-serve basis to students. Students can avail hostel rooms
either on a single or a shared basis.
Sports:
AIPH
University believes that sports plays a pivotal role in moulding one's
personality and maintaining good health. We've specially developed a
sports-centric environment that matches international standards and gives a
truly global experience to all our students. Moreover, the university
celebrates an Annual Sports Day every year to provide a platform to our
students to exhibit their athletic talents in front of their friends and

& Placement For AIPH University
The
university has a Placement Cell that looks after the students and helps &
assists them in becoming employable and valuable employees. This cell trains
the students well so that they can become skilled manpower with knowledge. This
cell is responsible for conducting on-campus placement drives and providing the
students with a platform where they can connect with industry experts through
workshops, seminars, special lectures, etc. This cell helps the students in
recognising their talents and helps them grab the best placement opportunity in
various national and international companies.
