The trust established Academy of Maritime Education and Training Chennai Tamil Nadu in 1993 with just 14 cadets molded for a career in merchant navy through a Higher National Diploma programme in marine engineering. AMET’s uncompromising strides of excellence in the field of maritime education and training laced with its capacity to feed the global shipping industry with an unrivalled maritime human resource secured it the status of becoming the first Deemed to be University in India for maritime education, training, research and development activities on the 21st August 2007.

Academy of Maritime Education and Training, Chennai Tamil Nadu, has created quite a name for itself over the yearsThe National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission has assessed AMET and accredited with A Grade during September 2021. The accreditation is an indication of standards of quality as set by the NAAC and valid for a period of five years from 13-09-2021. AMET commitment to cater for the maritime capacity building has no bounds. AMET’s strong hold as an institution for quality, discipline and rigor has drawn the attention of several growing maritime nations. To name a few are Republic of Nigeria, Angola and Djibouti that has signed a long term memorandum of understanding with AMET for developing their nation’s maritime human resource in particular and maritime infrastructure in general. Nigerian Maritime safety authority (NIMASA) which is the supreme authority for maritime administration in Nigeria, has got over 500 cadets trained through AMET over the last five years. AMET is a host to over 700 international students hailing from more than 10 countries across the world, thus providing and proving itself as a culturally diverse destination with a pledge to “Respect Diversity” and to promote cross cultural understanding which is the most essential quality for working in global environment.

Library

The Central Library has one of the best collections of information sources in technology, management, science and engineering-related disciplines. The library has a large collection of text reference books and multimedia which is continuously updated with the latest editions. It subscribes to international periodicals, databases and online journals.

The library maintains an intranet website through which students can access online databases, journals and catalogues anywhere in the campus using Wi-Fi connectivity. The library has the subscription of DELNET.

Hostel

Academy of Maritime Education and Training provides comfortable and well-appointed hostel accommodation to students both on-campus and off- campus. Room accommodation is extended on a firstcome- first-serve basis to students. Students can avail hostel rooms either on a single or a shared basis.

Sports:

AMET University believes that sports plays a pivotal role in moulding one's personality and maintaining good health. We've specially developed a sports-centric environment that matches international standards and gives a truly global experience to all our students. Moreover, the university celebrates an Annual Sports Day every year to provide a platform to our students to exhibit their athletic talents in front of their friends and family. Transportation Facility:

Transport facility is provided to the students, faculty and staff. The University has its own fleet of buses which not only take care of daily transportation, but also used for students outings like entertainment and study tours, industrial visits etc.

AMET University has well equipped functional infirmary which caters for the First Aid and limited our patient medical services.

Training & Placement For AMET University

AMET university has a Placement Cell that looks after the students and helps & assists them in becoming employable and valuable employees. This cell trains the students well so that they can become skilled manpower with knowledge.
